Toshiba announced today that it has added 12TB and 14TB models to its N300 NAS hard drive (HDD) and X300 performance HDD series. The new 12/14TB models feature a helium-sealed design for higher storage density and a lower power profile.

The 12/14TB models operate at 7,200 rpm and feature a 256MB buffer memory. The N300 NAS and X300 HDDs utilize Stable Platter Technology, which stabilizes the motor shaft on both sides of the platter to minimize vibration. This improves tracking accuracy during data reads and writes, maximizing performance.

The N300 NAS HDD features a rotational vibration (RV) sensor to maintain consistent maximum data transfer speeds. The 14TB model delivers up to 260MB/s, and the 12TB model up to 253MB/s. The N300 HDD supports up to eight HDD multi-RAID systems, offering excellent expandability. Therefore, it can flexibly respond to NAS environments that require increased storage or efficient storage and access of large amounts of data.
