TI Korea (CEO Jaejin Kim, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) August 10, 2011 – TI has launched a synchronous 50mA, 60V SWIFT™ step-down regulator that delivers high-efficiency, low-noise performance in a 125mm² solution. The TPS54062 integrates high-side and low-side power MOSFETs and provides efficient power conversion and transient protection for noise-sensitive industrial automation and sensor control, smart meters, telecom, computing, and consumer designs. This new 50mA, 60V SWIFT converter product can withstand high-voltage transients up to 65V and achieves high efficiency across the entire load. TI has also released the new TPS7A4001, a 50mA, 100V LDO, for higher voltage transient protection at 50mA. This product can achieve a very rapid stabilization time of less than 500 nanoseconds under a 50V transient state.

The TPS54062 supports a variety of TI embedded processor applications, such as applications based on Stellaris® ARM® Cortex™-M MCUs, C5000™ ultra-low power DSPs, and ultra-low power MSP430™ 16-bit MCUs, such as smart meters, building automation, and security systems.

• High Efficiency and High Performance: 65V transient protection with greater margin than standard specifications, wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 150°C), and 90% efficiency achieved at 150kHz with 24Vin and 5Vout.
• Excellent noise performance: The TPS54062 can be mutually synchronized with a clock via a fixed frequency.
• Low power operation: Shutdown current of 1.7 μA and operating current of 89 μA
• Ultra-compact solution: 20mm² board space savings compared to competing solutions with a small MSOP package integrating high-side and low-side FETs and a switching frequency range of 100kHz to 400kHz.

The TPS54062 is currently in mass production and is available in an 8-pin, 3mm x 5mm MSOP PowerPad™ package through TI and its authorized distributors. The price is $1.50 per 1,000 units.
