First card printing time reduced to 60 seconds

HID Global announced on the 17th the launch of a new ID card retransfer printer. The HID FARGO HDP6600 High Definition Printer/Encoder halves the initial ID card print time while doubling overall issuance throughput compared to competing products. This new printer is designed to minimize customer time, investment, and energy usage.
The HDP6600 printer is the sixth generation of the HID FARGO family. HID Global redefined the concept of retransfer printing and redesigned the printer from the ground up. The result is accelerated high-volume, high-quality printing while lowering printing costs and achieving best-in-class energy efficiency.

HID accelerates card issuance through its patent-pending Instant On technology and other improvements to film printing and card retransfer technology. This approach reduces the time it takes to print the first card to 60 seconds and enables card issuance rates of 230 cards per hour, reducing the average annual waiting time for printed and laminated cards by up to 20 hours.

Additionally, this method improves reliability while reducing energy consumption by eliminating the need for continuous heating of the transfer roller. This new printer can save thousands of dollars in energy costs per year for large projects.

Another advantage of the new HID FARGO printers is the image and color of each ID card. With true 600 DPI resolution and precise color panel registration, the HDP6600 printer delivers sharper text, clearer barcode images, and more vibrant colors than other products that use dithering techniques.

The HDP6600 utilizes a multitasking architecture supported by a full gigabyte of memory, enabling fast card issuance. It is also designed for easy serviceability, with easy access to the card tray and film and ribbon mounting assembly.

The HDP6600 offers field upgrade options for card flatteners, dual-sided flippers, magnetic stripe, contact and contactless encoders, and a programmer option for encryption of physical access control system data.
