Key SK Executives Head to CES 2019
Exhibition of LiBS, LiDAR, ADAS, PVB films, etc.
Discussions on partnerships with Intel, Google, Nvidia, etc.


SK Group's ICT affiliates plan to seek new growth engines by participating in CES 2019, the world's largest consumer electronics show held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 8 to 11.

To this end, key executives including SK Innovation President Kim Joon, SK Telecom President Park Jeong-ho, SK Hynix President Lee Suk-hee, and SKC President Lee Wan-jae will visit the CES 2019 site in person.


SK Mobility to Showcase Capabilities at CES 2019
SK affiliates have set up a joint booth at CES for the first time to showcase future mobility technologies under the theme "Innovative Mobility by SK." They plan to show off SK's mobility technologies to global visitors in the North Hall, where exhibition booths of global automotive companies are concentrated.
SK Innovation is exhibiting LiBS (Lithium-ion Battery Separator), a core material for electric vehicle batteries with the second-largest global market share. It is also scheduled to showcase 'FCW (Flexible Cover Window),' a transparent PI film considered a key material for foldable phones.

SK Telecom is the only domestic mobile carrier participating in CES and will set up two exhibition booths. At the SK joint booth, it will showcase autonomous driving technologies such as single-photon LiDAR and HD map updates, while at the SM Entertainment joint booth, it will unveil a vision of the near future of 5G immersive media, including HoloBox and Oksusu Social VR.

Under the concept of "Memory-Centric Mobility," SK Hynix is showcasing automotive DRAM and NAND flash, which are essential for autonomous driving, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), infotainment, and telematics. In an autonomous driving environment, data creates new value, such as enhancing driving experience and safety, and memory semiconductors become the most critical components for this data flow. In line with this, the company plans to present DRAM, HBM (High Bandwidth Memory), and enterprise SSDs utilized for communication and data analysis between vehicles and data centers.

SKC is exhibiting 'PCT film,' which is advantageous for lightweighting automotive cables, and 'PVB film,' a glass lamination product that minimizes damage in the event of automotive glass breakage. They will also unveil 'graphite sheets,' a heat dissipation material that reduces the weight of electric vehicle batteries; 'silicon carbide (SiC),' used in power semiconductors within EVs; and eco-friendly polyurethane interior materials.


SK ICT Executives to Discuss Global Partnerships at CES
SK Telecom CEO Park Jeong-ho and key executives are meeting with global companies in the media and mobility sectors—key businesses for the 5G era—at CES to pursue cooperation. They plan to discuss specific partnership strategies with partners capable of creating synergy with SK Telecom's media and autonomous driving technologies. In addition, they intend to further solidify cooperation with global companies closely associated with 5G, such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Intel.
SK Innovation President Kim Jun and executives are scheduled to carry out various activities, including meetings with representatives of global clients. Additionally, during CES, they will hold a strategic meeting on-site with executives in charge of business model innovation to review the direction of business model innovation and lay the foundation for this year's business strategy. At the same time, we plan to examine the trends of major domestic companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, as well as global companies including Google, Nvidia, and Schaeffler.
SK Hynix President Lee Suk-hee meets with global companies leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the fields of data centers, cloud, storage, and chipsets in turn to explore cooperation measures for the development of the global ICT ecosystem.
SKC CEO Lee Wan-jae plans to tour booths of electric vehicle-related companies to examine technology trends. In particular, he intends to focus on promoting SKC’s high-value-added materials, such as automotive glass lamination films for HUDs, lightweight films for automotive cables, and thermal dissipation materials for lightweight automotive batteries.

SK affiliates stated, "Based on each company's mobility technology capabilities, we will make 2019 the inaugural year for accelerating SK's mobility business."
