5G bus first-come-first-served experience event running until February 2nd

A 5G bus equipped with 5G commercial network runs through the heart of Seoul.

KT announced on the 8th that it will hold a 5G experience bus event in Gwanghwamun and Gangnam, Seoul, from the 15th to February 2nd. The 5G bus will begin full operations from the 15th, operating in Gwanghwamun from the 15th to 24th, and in the Gangnam Station area from the 25th to February 2nd.
KT applied a 5G wireless network environment to a large-scale bus. The bus is equipped with a 5G Mobile Hot Spot (MHS) that receives signals from 5G base stations built in the Gwanghwamun and Gangnam Station areas and converts them to Wi-Fi. Through this, passengers boarding the 5G bus can experience immersive media services even while the vehicle is moving.

Giga Live TV is a wireless-based next-generation media service that does not require a separate terminal such as a smartphone. Simply wearing a VR HMD (Head-Mounted Display) allows you to enjoy Special Force VR and professional basketball live VR broadcasts inside a moving vehicle, and you can watch movies, entertainment, golf lessons and more in 360-degree VR video without delay. Additionally, you can get a preview of some of KT's 5G commercial services to be unveiled in March.

KT will accept pre-experience applications for the 5G bus starting from the 8th. Applications can be made on the 5G Bus website (http://www.kt5Gbus.com). From the 15th to 24th in Gwanghwamun and from the 25th to February 2nd in the Gangnam area, the bus will operate 5 times daily from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Park Hyun-jin, Executive Director of KT's 5G Business Division, said, "In the 5G era, mobility will be able to exchange large amounts of information in real-time and stably surrounded by a 5G network. KT will continue to introduce differentiated 5G services that can provide customers with unique experiences and value in everyday life, including the mobility environment."

Meanwhile, KT announced the birth of Korea's first 5G subscriber "Rota" at the Seoul Sky observation deck of Lotte World Tower in Jamsil on December 2018 following 5G commercial signal transmission. Subsequently, this month, KT applied 5G network to barista robot 'B;eat' and commercialized the world's first 5G barista robot.

The 5G MHS subscriber for this project is 'Broteen,' a business partner of KT's Giga Live TV business, and the two companies plan to jointly develop 5G VR content and services in the future.
