New 28nm QorIQ AMP Series Processors, Advanced Features, and Ultra-Low Power Operation
July 3, 2012, Seoul, Korea – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL www.freescale.com ) is launching two QorIQ AMP series processors that provide an ideal combination of performance, power, and integration to meet the increasingly demanding energy, security, and processing requirements of advanced network equipment manufacturers.
The new 28nm QorIQ AMP T1042 and T2080 devices join the T4240 product, a QorIQ AMP series announced by Freescale as a flagship product for high-end systems, and apply the same advanced characteristics as the QorIQ AMP series to entry-level and mid-range products.
With the launch of these two products, Freescale’s QorIQ AMP series now boasts a comprehensive, highly scalable portfolio of 64-bit, software-compatible devices based on a common architecture and integrating next-generation Freescale multicore IP. All AMP products provide advanced acceleration engines, shared virtualization technology, sophisticated power management systems, and next-generation security features.
Freescale’s industry-standard QorIQ AMP portfolio will soon be joined by a quad-core, 800MHz product operating at less than 5 watts, a device integrating 8 virtual cores with 1.8GHz performance per core, and a performance-oriented processor featuring 12 dual-thread cores.
