Texas Instruments (TI) is launching a new MCU with twice the core power and edge AI, which is expected to satisfy the automotive and industrial demands that require high-performance real-time control.
TI released the TMS320F28P55x series and F29H85x series MCUs through a press conference on the 21st.
The TMS320F28P55x series C2000™ MCUs are the industry’s first real-time MCU portfolio to integrate a neural processing unit (NPU), enabling fault detection with high accuracy and low latency.
The F29H85x series offers an advanced architecture with enhanced safety and security features based on TI’s new 64-bit C29 digital signal processor (DSP) core.
The TMS320F28P55x series NPU separates the execution of neural network models from the main CPU, reducing latency by 5 to 10 times compared to conventional software implementation methods, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making.
Additionally, models running on the integrated NPU learn and adapt to various environments through training, enabling the system to detect errors with over 99% accuracy, enabling intelligent decision-making at the edge.Do it.
Today's engineers are challenged to design systems that can make accurate, real-time decisions for functions such as arc fault detection in solar and energy storage systems or motor bearing failure detection for predictive maintenance.

The F29H85x series, which adopts the latest 64-bit C29 core, is designed to support safety integrity by complying with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 automotive and industrial safety standards at ASIL D and SIL 3 levels with real-time control performance that is twice as improved as that of the existing C28 core.
