| Samsung QLED 8K TV Launched in Over 60 Countries
Expanding consumer choices from 55 inches to 98 inches
New product to be launched via Samsung Forum starting in Europe on the 12th

Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that it held a briefing on the TV market outlook and key technologies of the 2019 Samsung 'QLED 8K' at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province on the 8th, and has set out to secure a leading position in the 8K TV market in earnest.
Samsung QLED 8K is a next-generation TV that combines an ultra-high-resolution display with 33 million pixels and Quantum Dot technology, delivering the highest level of brightness and contrast ratio, lifelike deep colors, and a wide viewing angle.

Samsung Electronics will unveil its 2019 QLED 8K TV through the 'Samsung Forum,' a business partner invitation event held in various regions starting with Europe on the 12th, followed by Southwest Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and begin full-scale sales.

Samsung Electronics first introduced QLED 8K in Europe, Korea, the United States, and Russia in 2018, and is expanding sales to over 60 countries worldwide starting this year.

The QLED 8K lineup introduced this year consists of a total of six models, adding 98-inch and 55-inch sizes to the existing 65, 75, 82, and 85-inch models, and when watching 8K TVsThe plan is to maintain an overwhelming lead in the premium and ultra-large TV market through market expansion.

Market research firm IHS predicted that the growth of 8K in large TVs will be prominent and that 8K will account for more than 10% of the market for TVs 60 inches or larger by 2021.

The biggest feature of the Samsung QLED 8K TV is that it is equipped with the 'Quantum Processor 8K' based on Samsung Electronics' semiconductor technology.

Quantum Processor 8K is a technology that generates optimal image conversion filters by analyzing the characteristic differences between high-resolution and low-resolution images based on machine learning.

Through this, Samsung QLED 8K provides an 8K-level viewing experience regardless of the quality of the input video.

The 2019 QLED 8K features new picture quality technology to achieve improved black levels and viewing angles.
Samsung QLED 8K optimizes black representation and provides the best contrast ratio by controlling the backlight through a Direct Full Array method that analyzes the characteristics of each image, such as brightness distribution and black ratio.

Samsung Electronics has significantly improved the field of view by developing the first 'Quad Rendering Video Processing' algorithm, which reconstructs an image by combining a field of view image and a frontal correction image.

The entire 2019 QLED 8K lineup includes It also features the HDMI 2.1 (8K, 60P) standard for transmitting high-definition, high-capacity video content.

HDMI 2.1 significantly expands transmission capacity from the existing 18Gbps to 48Gbps, enabling playback of 8K resolution video at 60 frames per second and enabling smooth, detailed video and high-quality audio when playing 8K content.

Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter of 2018, Samsung Electronics' display panel business recorded sales of 9.17 trillion won and an operating profit of 0.97 trillion won.
