Dell EMC unveils a more robust data protection portfolio.

Dell EMC announced on the 14th that it has updated its flagship backup appliance, 'Data Domain', and its integrated data protection appliance, 'IDPA (Integrated Data Protection Appliance)'.

With this software update, Dell EMC expands cloud support, adds several features, and also delivers improved performance.

As multi-cloud environments grow, Dell EMC is expanding its public cloud support to help enterprises more securely protect their data across diverse environments.
The new 'Data Domain OS 6.2' and 'IDPA 2.3' software have significantly expanded public cloud support to enable efficient management of long-term retention data in a cloud environment with 'Cloud Tier', a long-term retention data management solution.

Already AWS and MS Azure (AIt supports Zure), Dell EMC ECS, Virtustream, Ceph, etc., and this expansion enables integration with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and Alibaba Cloud.

Additionally, the new 'Free-space Estimator Tool for Cloud Tier' tool allows you to efficiently manage capacity, reducing on-premises and cloud storage costs.

Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE), a software-defined version of Data Domain, has also expanded its ecosystem to include AWS GovCloud, Azure Government Cloud, and GCP, in addition to the existing AWS S3 and Azure Hot Blob, providing software-defined data protection in various cloud environments as well as on-premises.

DDVE recently introduced capacity expansion of up to 96TB per instance, enabling enterprises to experience the highest level of data protection provided by Dell EMC appliances even in evolving cloud environments.

Additionally, the 'Native Cloud Disaster Recovery' feature is provided across all IDPA products along with end-to-end orchestration.

In the event of a disaster, it is possible to easily and economically failover to a cloud environment (disaster recovery that automatically switches to a secondary system when a problem occurs in the primary system) and, when the problem is resolved, failback (recover the system that was switched to failover back to the state before the failure), thereby revolutionizing the cost and effort that companies spend on building and managing a separate backup system in a remote location.It can be reduced to an enemy.

All Data Domain and IDPA products support AWS, including VMware Cloud on AWS, and Microsoft Azure for Cloud Disaster Recovery (Microsoft Azure).

Dell EMC has also significantly improved the performance of its data protection product line.

IDPA family updates deliver enhanced performance with 4x IOPS boosted by enhanced data cache and instant access and recovery capabilities.

IOPS reaches up to 40,000, and the latency response time is only 20ms. Data Domain also accelerates the recovery of on-premises applications and enables faster recalls from the public cloud.

This enables enterprises to recover data from Data Domain up to 2.5x faster than the previous generation and recall data from the cloud to Data Domain up to 4x faster, while maintaining strict Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.

In addition to cloud and performance improvements, we are also introducing additional models for mid-sized businesses and large enterprise branches that require enterprise-grade data protection capabilities, performance, and flexibility to adapt to changes.
Optimized for mid-sized businesses and departments within large enterprises, the newly introduced 8TB model of the 2U Data Domain DD3300 easily expands capacity up to 32TB, helping businesses adapt flexibly to changing needs. Furthermore, the DD3300 adds the option to back up to a virtual tape library (VTL) via FC channels and improves networking performance with 10GbE support.

All Dell EMC data protection appliances feature an interface that excels at ease-of-management. 'Data Domain Management Center' can easily manage multiple data domains and DDVEs on-premises or in the public cloud through a single interface.
