Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced today that it has achieved Global Certification Forum (GCF) certification for its 5G NR Non-Standalone (NSA) test cases, accelerating protocol and RF device certification for the mobile ecosystem.

Keysight's 5G conformance toolset, which supports both protocol and RF/RRM, received GCF certification at the Conformance and Interoperability Agreement Group (CAG) meeting held in January.
As part of Keysight's 5G network emulation solutions portfolio, the toolset has achieved both GCF and PTCRB device certification, supporting a broad range of GCF RF and protocol 5G NR NSA test cases and frequency band combinations. Protocol and RF conformance testing is a key element for chipset and device manufacturers, as well as test labs, to validate the performance of new 5G designs.
“Keysight is committed to continuing to work closely with key industry stakeholders and contributing to the 3GPP standards for 5G NR device validation,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s wireless test business. “Keysight’s 5G solutions for full radio frequency and protocol conformance testing enable the mobile ecosystem to confidently evolve with the latest 5G NR standards defined by 3GPP and adopted into the GCF and PTCRB certification schemes.”
Meanwhile, Keysight's 5G Conformance Toolset recently achieved both 3GPP RAN5 and PTCRB approval for 5G NR device certification. Keysight's suite of 5G network emulation solutions leverages Keysight's UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform to support the device development workflow from initial design through approval and manufacturing.
This solution also supports device certification procedures, encompassing mobile device validation, RF, Radio Resource Management (RRM), and protocol-wide certification. The toolset enables new designs to be certified in FR1 (sub-6 GHz frequencies) and FR2 (mmWave frequencies).

Five Challenges 5G NR Device Designers Must Overcome <4> OTA Testing on 5G mmWave Devices
5G mmWave 구성 요소 및 장치에서 OTA 테스트를 수행하는 설계자는 케이블 연결을 사용하여 대부분의 6㎓ 이하 RF 성능 테스트를 수행한다. 5G의 경우, 저주파 테스트는 4G와 유사하지만 mmWave의 경우 다음과 같은 무선 테스트 솔루션이 필요하다. 원거리 테스트 방법은 전통적으로 가장 포괄적이지만, mmWave 주파수에서는 몇 가지 문제를 야기한다. 동작 주파수가 높아지고 방사 안테나의 크기가 커질수록 거리가 증가하여 경로 손실이 더 커지기 때문에 정확한 방사 측정을 수행하기 어려워진다. 최근 3GPP는 장치 RF 성능 테스트를 위해 소형 안테나 테스트 범위(Compact Antenna Test Range, CATR)를 승인했다. 이 OTA 테스트 방법은 전통적인 원거리 테스트 챔버보다 경로 손실이 훨씬 적은 방사 송신기의 전송 전력, 전송 신호 품질 및 스퓨리어스 방출에 대한 측정을 수행 할 수 있다.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
