SK Telecom announced on the 6th that it will present a concrete vision of the future of 'converged security' together with its security subsidiaries ADT Caps and SK Infosec at the security exhibition 'SECON 2019'.
SK Telecom, ADT Caps, and SK Infosec participated in SECON 2019, the largest domestic security exhibition held at KINTEX in Ilsan from the 6th to the 8th, set up a joint exhibition booth, and showcased 'converged security' services that encompass the three companies' telecommunications and ICT technologies, as well as physical and information security.

With the commercialization of 5G and the development of information and communication technologies such as AI, big data, and robotics, it is predicted that new 'converged security' services will emerge in the future security industry, in which new ICT technologies are integrated into the existing areas of physical security and information security. Accordingly, the operational efficiency of security companies is expected to be further enhanced through technologies such as biometric recognition and intelligent video analysis.


SK Telecom's Three Security Agencies Present Concrete Blueprint for Converged Security
SK Telecom, ADT Caps, and SK Infosec established an 'ICT Convergence Security' zone at their exhibition booth. The zone showcased the future of security services, featuring convergence security solutions that combine ADT Caps' physical security and SK Infosec's information security with SK Telecom's ICT technology, as well as introductions to quantum cryptography security utilizing quantum technology. Additionally, a separate consultation zone was set up within the booth to provide one-stop security consultation services regarding the three companies' various security solutions and services.

SK Infosec introduced 'Secudium IoT,' Korea's only converged security monitoring platform. Secudium IoT collects and analyzes information from various industrial systems, including information security, physical security, operational technology (OT), and industrial control. Through this, it functions to protect a company's core assets from physical risks as well as cyber threats at industrial sites.

For example, by utilizing Secudium IoT, it is possible to block information leakage by internal and external parties. By integrally monitoring IT asset usage history and movement paths—such as whether internal or external users access the system beyond their authority, enter restricted areas, or print confidential materials—it is possible to block access if it is determined to be an act of information leakage.

Secudium IoT can also be used as an intelligent CCTV control platform that collects and analyzes video information from cities and industrial sites to respond to dangerous situations, enabling preparation for public and industrial safety accidents that may occur in smart cities and smart factories.

SK Infosec, the first Asian company to join the Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA), established to share cyber threat intelligence among global security firms, also showcased Secudium Intelligence, which provides global threat intelligence, at the exhibition.

ADT Caps has introduced SiteCube, a customized integrated building management system. It is a converged security service that goes beyond existing physical security areas, such as unmanned security services, to establish an integrated building management system covering elevator control, parking management, and access control. By adding IT functions such as intelligent video surveillance and energy control, it enables one-stop management and control of the entire building.

At this exhibition, SK Telecom showcased a wide range of new security services and solutions incorporating ICT technologies, such as AI security, cloud security, and smart stores, along with a session providing an easy-to-understand introduction to quantum cryptography security technology. AI-based 'face recognition' and 'product recognition' technologies, the utilization of various security solutions for remote unmanned autonomous flight/driving solutions, and cloud-based security monitoring are expected to lead the future of converged security.


First Joint Event by Three Companies… Showcasing the Entire Security Sector
This is the first time SK Telecom, ADT Caps, and SK Infosec have jointly participated in a security event since their incorporation as subsidiaries in 2018. The three companies plan to demonstrate a variety of security services that are possible when New ICT technologies such as 5G, AI, IoT, and cloud are combined with ADT Caps' physical security areas, including dispatch security, video security, and access security, and SK Infosec's information security areas.

In addition to ICT convergence security, the exhibition booth was divided into a total of five security areas, including cloud security, AI security, IoT life care, and smart store, and the future of security services was presented under the theme of "Beyond Security" through about 20 products and services.

Cloud Security introduced the Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) service, which is receiving the most attention in multi-cloud environments. CASB manages unauthorized or unprotected cloud services and protects the data generated from them. It also exhibited cloud-based security monitoring for customers using Amazon Web Services (AWS), TON, an on-demand information security service utilizing cloud technology (SDN/NFV), and ViewGuard Cloud, a CCTV service with cloud storage.

AI Security unveiled 'Drone Security,' which utilizes remote unmanned autonomous drone solutions to perform a variety of missions for industrial facilities such as power plants and ports. These missions include not only perimeter surveillance and intrusion response but also safety functions like fire and gas monitoring, as well as inspection functions for cracks and damage. The company also proposed various security technologies and services incorporating ICT, such as the ADT Caps dispatch service, which utilizes autonomous driving solutions to enable safe and fast route navigation, precise surrounding detection, and close response to accidents ahead.

IoT life care products and services include a variety of security services that make daily life convenient, such as T Map Parking Service, which enables convenient parking based on data reflecting customer needs; Caps Home, a 24-hour security and home care product currently provided by ADT Caps to general households; an IoT platform-based senior care solution that can care for elderly patients with limited mobility in nursing homes or hospitals; and Every Air, which manages weather and location information, temperature, humidity, and ultrafine dust inside and outside the home.

Smart Store presents services and solutions that allow us to preview the form of future product sales stores. You can see the future of security services where automatic access control systems and customer purchase information are linked through AI-based 'face recognition' and 'product recognition' technologies, and unmanned kiosks and POS systems linked to security, as well as product anti-theft systems that enhance the efficiency of store operations, were also showcased.

SK Infosec CEO Lee Yong-hwan stated, “The hyper-connected era, where all devices are connected to a network, is just around the corner,” adding, “The three companies will develop and present to the market new areas of security services that go beyond the convergence of information and physical security to safeguard the safety of society as a whole.”

Kim Kyung-nam, Head of Security Labs at SK Telecom’s ICT Technology Center, who gave a presentation on the topic of “Current Status and Future Directions of AI Technology in the Security Industry” at the SECON 2019 conference on the 6th, said, “The commercialization of 5G, the evolution of AI technology, the advancement of big data analysis technology, the development of quantum cryptography technology, the activation of cloud platforms, and the diversification of security sensors and robots will lead the next-generation security business, which is characterized by intelligent and convergent types.”
