Coavis, the first company to achieve smart factory certification

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 19th that it has selected the automobile parts manufacturer 'Coavis' as the first company to be 'verified as a smart factory level'.

The Smart Factory Level Verification System is a system implemented to reflect the voices of those in the field who, when introducing smart factories in the private sector without government support, want a credible institution to verify the level of smart factories and provide information that can be referenced when further improving the level in the future.

Coavis, selected as the first company to receive level verification, participated in the government's smart factory support project in 2016 and built a smart factory at the level of data standardization and management (Level 1).

After experiencing increased productivity and corporate competitiveness following the introduction of smart factories, Coavis pursued further advancements using its own funds.

Additional advancements pursued by the company included the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. As a result, the company has grown into a company with the competitiveness to supply to global automakers such as GM, Ford, and Volkswagen.
According to the results of the smart factory level verification conducted by the Korea Standards Association, Coavis was confirmed to be at Level 3, capable of collecting and analyzing manufacturing process-related data information and real-time control.

Koavis CEO Son In-seok stated, “Through the Smart Factory Level Verification System, we were able to objectively diagnose the factory’s technological level, and we plan to continuously improve the system according to the advanced roadmap provided along with the diagnosis.”

Seok Jong-hoon, Director of the Startup and Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We plan to award extra points to small and medium-sized enterprises that introduce smart factories and wish to supply to public institutions so that they can continue to grow, and we also plan to provide support through R&D and policy funds.”
He continued, “If Coavis, the first company to have its smart factory level verified, becomes a model case for companies with such level verification, there will be an increase in cases in the private sector voluntarily introducing smart factories and improving their level.” Said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will hold a meeting to congratulate Coavis on becoming the first company to receive the level verification and to hear about challenges related to smart factories. The meeting will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 PM on the 20th at Coavis (117 Gongdan-ro, Yeonsu-myeon, Sejong City).
