Seminar on Disseminating AI International Standard Trends to be Held This June

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it is taking steps to secure global standard leadership by dispatching a delegation of 15 experts from industry, academia, research institutes, and government to the "3rd AI International Standardization Conference" held in Dublin, Ireland from the 8th to the 12th.

The Korean delegation proposed the establishment of a new study group to create an AI data ecosystem applicable to various industrial sectors, which is a key topic in AI technology, and simultaneously carried out activities to secure support from major participating countries such as the U.S., Japan, and China.

The newly established study group aims to support the creation of high-quality data in a standard format that can be directly applied to AI technology from raw general data, and is expected to be of great help to industries requiring AI standards, such as smart manufacturing, IoT home appliances, and autonomous driving.

If this study group is established under Korea's leadership, it is expected to develop into a working group in the future, thereby solidifying Korea's position in international AI standards organizations.

The Korean delegation is carrying out activities to induce the establishment of international standards applicable to the Korean industry by reflecting Korea's technology and opinions in ongoing international standard projects, such as AI basic technologies and big data.It opened.

Lee Seung-woo, Director General of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, stated, "Competition among nations to secure leadership within the recently launched 'AI international standards organization' is intensifying," adding, "In particular, Korea also needs active participation from relevant ministries and industry, as well as guidance on standardization directions."

He added, “Based on the results of this international standardization meeting, we will hold an ‘AI International Standard Trends Dissemination Seminar’ in June with the participation of industry, academia, research institutes, and government to disseminate international standardization trends and spare no support for the active participation of our companies and experts.”
