Telstar Homemel owns the 'LINK5' smart factory platform.
Convergence and development of 5G technology and process/automation analysis solutions

KT announced on the 19th that it signed an MOU with Telstar Homemel for the development of a smart factory solution based on 5G Edge Cloud at the Telstar Homemel headquarters in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Telstar Homemel is a company that combines its extensive experience in automotive powertrain manufacturing with information and communication technology to create a customized smart factory platform called "LINK5." It also chairs the consortium of smart factory platform suppliers, a initiative of the Innobiz Association to drive manufacturing innovation among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The main contents of this business agreement are ▲development of 5G-based smart factory solutions ▲trial application of smart factory solutions ▲market distribution and expansion of 5G-based smart factory solutions.

The two companies plan to integrate and develop KT's 5G technology with Telstar Homemel's process/automation analytics solutions. Leveraging 5G's ultra-low latency, ultra-broadband, and hyper-connectivity, KT will collect massive amounts of sensor data from industrial sites into its edge communication center, enabling real-time process monitoring and AI analysis to maintain optimal productivity. Additionally, we plan to collaborate to predict defect rates based on big data analysis and efficiently maintain equipment in each process.

KT Marketing Division Head Vice President Lee Pil-jae said, “We will contribute to the revitalization of the domestic manufacturing industry by providing a powerful smart factory solution through the combination of Telstar Homemel’s excellent technology and KT 5G.”

Telstar Homemel CEO Lim Byeong-hun expressed his expectations for the cooperation between the two companies, saying, “KT and Telstar Homemel have the same goals, but we hope to grow into the best model of mutual growth in Korea by fulfilling different roles and responsibilities.”
