| KT Opens 5G Comprehensive Exhibition Hall at Yangjae Building
South Korea's 5G Technology on Display in One Place

KT and Samsung Electronics announced on the 26th that they have opened a '5G Innovation Center' at the KT Yangjae Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Since opening the 'LTE Innovation Center' in 2012, KT has operated it for about six years, welcoming over 1,600 visitors from more than 100 countries, including global business operators and foreign government officials, to introduce the technologies and know-how of KT and Samsung Electronics, such as LTE and broadband LTE-A.

In anticipation of the 5G era, KT has refurbished its existing 'LTE Innovation Center' and reopened it as the '5G Innovation Center' to comprehensively showcase 5G technology.

At the '5G Innovation Center,' Samsung Electronics showcased its 3.5 GHz 5G equipment currently in commercial service in Korea and the 'Galaxy S10 5G' device, as well as 28 GHz equipment and technology currently under development. In addition, 28 GHz 5G equipment and terminals jointly developed by KT and Samsung Electronics will be exhibited to showcase South Korea's 5G technological capabilities.

In addition, it introduces the nation's largest 5G coverage built around 85 major cities nationwide and eight edge communication centers built based on 5G core equipment with a CUPS structure, and conveys KT's differentiated know-how in designing and building ultra-low latency 5G networks.

In particular, at the '5G Innovation Center,' visitors can tour the 5G DU intensive operation room, which provides actual 5G services in the Gangnam and Seocho areas. Visitors can not only see the actual operation of KT's 5G network but also experience a demonstration of the highest 5G speed of 1Gbps in a commercial environment.

KT plans to continue spreading its global 5G leadership by developing the '5G Innovation Center' into a comprehensive 5G technology exhibition space that vividly showcases the realities of 5G network operations and a space where it can share 5G technology know-how with global operators.

Key executives from KT and Samsung Electronics inspected the quality of the 5G network while traveling by car through the Gangnam area of Seoul and the Gyeongbu Expressway on this day. During this process, the two companies discussed measures to improve 5G quality early and agreed to make every effort to provide 5G quality that satisfies customers as soon as possible.

"The 5G Innovation Center will become a must-visit destination for telecommunications operators and government officials around the world looking to adopt 5G technology," said Jeon Kyung-hoon, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics' Network Business Division. "Following the LTE Innovation Center, we will continue to cooperate with KT to ensure it serves as a forward base to showcase the status of 5G Korea."
