Samsung Electronics Unveils 'Exynos i T100', an IoT Processor Optimized for Short-Range Communications

Samsung Electronics unveiled the 'Exynos i T100', an IoT processor optimized for short-range data communication within 100m, on the 7th.
Samsung Electronics has established an Exynos IoT solution lineup covering all distances by introducing the short-range Exynos i T100, following the long-range Exynos i S111 (LTE modem-based) and the mid-range Exynos i T200 (Wi-Fi-based).
The Exynos i T100 is used in small IoT devices installed in homes and offices, such as smart lighting, window opening/closing sensors, temperature control, and gas detection. It can also be used in wearable devices that manage physical activity and exercise volume.
This product supports the latest wireless communication technologies, such as Bluetooth 5.0 (low power, Bluetooth Low Energy) and Zigbee 3.0, which support short-range wireless communication, allowing it to connect with various devices.
Samsung Electronics has enhanced security by equipping wireless IoT devices with a Security Sub System (SSS) that manages encryption and decryption, and a Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) for data cloning prevention, to prevent data hacking vulnerabilities.
In particular, the Exynos i T100 has the advantage of being able to be safely utilized in various temperature environments, as it operates normally even at high temperatures of up to 125°C, beyond the typical operating temperature range (-40 to 85°C).
In addition, Samsung Electronics optimized the 'Exynos i T100' for small IoT devices by integrating the processor, memory, and communication functions into a single package, while also increasing power efficiency by applying a 28nm process.
“Low-power and short-range IoT solutions will make human life more convenient through connections with various devices,” said Heo Kuk, Executive Vice President of the Marketing Team at Samsung Electronics’ S.LSI Business Division. “The Exynos i T100 will contribute to the development and expansion of short-range IoT services based on various communication technologies and security.”
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is currently supplying 'Exynos i T100' samples to customers.

Samsung Electronics Expands and Relocates its Montreal AI Lab to Focus on AI Research Applicable to Next-Generation System Semiconductors
Samsung Electronics is expanding and relocating its Comprehensive Technology Institute Montreal AI Lab to a building at the Mila Institute located in Montreal, Canada, thereby strengthening its research in the future AI field. The Mila Institute is a world-leading deep learning research institution where Professor Yoshua Bengio, one of the world's top three scholars in deep learning, collaborates with researchers from the University of Montreal and McGill University, as well as AI developers from global companies. With this move, Samsung Electronics becomes the first Korean company to establish a presence in the Mila Institute building. Concurrent with this expansion and relocation, Samsung Electronics has recruited Simon Lacoste, a professor at the University of Montreal affiliated with the Mila Institute, and appointed him as the head of the Montreal AI Lab.

Samsung Electronics Hosts Business Technology Briefing for SMEs Exploring New Businesses
Samsung Electronics, in cooperation with the Korea Patent Strategy Development Institute, held the 2019 first Business Technology Briefing Session at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, introducing outstanding technologies with high possibilities for business partnerships or mass production to partner companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, thereby helping expand business opportunities. The briefing session was attended by approximately 160 people, including executives and researchers from 87 companies seeking new technology development and new business opportunities. Ecolab and K-water Discuss Innovation Collaboration in Advanced Industry Water Management
