| KT, Samsung SDS, and Shinsung E&G Sign MOU
Planned to discover 5G smart factory business models
KT Provides Secure Enterprise 5G Environment

KT announced on the 7th that it signed an MOU for 5G smart factory business cooperation with Samsung SDS and Shinsung E&G at the Shinsung E&G factory in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and will cooperate to commercialize 5G smart factories and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Under this MOU, the three companies plan to jointly pursue ▲identification of 5G-based business demonstration cases ▲expansion of IIoT business ▲cooperation on infrastructure/platform/services for pilot and demonstration projects ▲development and supply of smart factory products applying KT ICT technology ▲joint identification of business models and consulting support.

In particular, to ensure successful commercialization, KT provides dedicated network infrastructure such as IoT, LTE, and 5G. KT Enterprise 5G is essential for smart factory environments where corporate information security is critical, as it provides a dedicated wireless network with enhanced security without using the general internet network.

The participating companies plan to develop various 5G smart factory services that utilize enterprise-dedicated 5G networks and industrial IoT platforms to connect hundreds or thousands of IoT products in a smart factory into one unit for centralized control and easy data management.

"We will expand our business into all industrial sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, media, and hospitals, as well as 5G smart factories, by utilizing KT's secure dedicated 5G enterprise network," said Executive Vice President Jeong Yun-sik, Head of KT's Corporate Customer Division.

Lim Soo-hyun, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung SDS Solution Business Division, stated, “We expect that by linking Samsung SDS’s Brightics IoT platform with KT’s enterprise-dedicated 5G network and Shinsung E&G’s smart factory products, integrated control, management, and data analysis of products will become possible. Based on this collaboration, we will create new customer value and lead the market.”

Lee Young-il, Executive Director of Sales Division 2 at Shinsung E&G, said, “The three companies will work together to advance smart factories with new technologies of the 5G era,” adding, “By combining each company’s unique technologies and experience, we can create successful 5G business models.”
