Infineon Technologies announced on the 20th that it is launching a single integrated linear Hall sensor that meets the automotive safety standard ISO26262.

With the XENSIV TLE4999I3, developers can create fault-tolerant systems that meet ASIL D. Applicable applications include electric power steering systems, electric throttle control systems, and pedal applications.

The ISO 26262 standard defines that a system must continue to operate even if a single component fails. The TLE4999I3 enables uninterrupted operation at the system level.

The new device is a monolithic design integrating two separate Hall elements. Each signal path is separated from the others.

The internal control mechanism performs plausibility checks on the sensor data within the chip. In addition, this new linear Hall sensor provides comprehensive status information to the system.

While meeting functional safety requirements, the TLE4999I3 provides magnetic sensitivity with an error of less than 2%. The offset error drift, another important parameter of the magnetic sensor for determining the absolute position of the magnetic field, is up to 100µT. This parameter value applies across the entire temperature range and the entire product life.

The TLE4999I3 can be adjusted to two magnetic field ranges of ±12.5 mT and ±25 mT. These low values allow for the use of relatively small and inexpensive magnets.

This product features a PSI5 communication interface. As a physical current interface, its advantages include reduced wiring work and excellent electromagnetic performance. Additionally, the TLE4999I3 supports cable lengths of up to 12 meters, making it suitable for applications connecting to control units over long distances.

The TLE4999I3 sensor is available in a PG-SSO-3 package. Additionally, it has obtained AEC-Q100 Grade 0 certification, making it suitable for applications where ambient temperatures reach up to 150°C under average operating conditions.
