BlackBerry announced on the 8th that its QNX software is installed in more than 150 million vehicles worldwide. This is an increase of 30 million units from the 2018 announcement.
QNX technology is used in ADAS, digital instrument clusters, connectivity modules, hands-free systems, and infotainment systems by automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, including Audi, BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
BlackBerry has achieved ISO 26262 ASIL D, the highest level of automotive safety certification for functional safety, and has experience providing mission-critical embedded systems in automotive and other industries.
This study, conducted in partnership with Strategy Analytics, measures QNX adoption based on the number of QNX products distributed in the automotive market and the number of vehicles equipped with QNX products and technology.
The majority of QNX software products integrated and used in automotive ECUs are licensed on a per-unit royalty basis.
BlackBerry QNX technologies include QNX Neutrino OS, QNX Platform for ADAS, QNX OS for Safety, QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment, and QNX Digital Cockpit Platform.It consists of ‘NX Platform for Digital Cockpits’, ‘QNX Hypervisor 2.0’, and ‘QNX acoustics middleware’.

TI Launches Automotive System-Based Chip with Integrated CAN FD Controller and Transceiver
Texas Instruments announced the launch of an automotive system-based chip product that integrates a CAN FD controller and transceiver. The TCAN4550-Q1 is designed to meet requirements for high bandwidth and flexible data transmission rates in in-vehicle networks, enabling engineers to implement CAN FD interfaces or expand the number of bus ports with minimal hardware modifications across any microcontroller's SPI bus interface. With the newly released TCAN4550-Q1 SBC, engineers can easily upgrade or expand body control and lighting, ADAS, and automotive gateway designs to CAN FD while maintaining their existing microcontroller-based architecture.
