Hilscher has released a new version of software with enhanced security for the netIOT edge gateway.

Hilscher announced on the 30th that it is supplying the latest version 1.2.0.0 software for the netIOT Edge Gateway product family.


Software release 1.2 was developed with a focus on internet connectivity and edge analytics capabilities via an integrated LTE modem, and enables the provision of extensive server and client functions by pre-installing a new Node-RED-based OPC-UA framework that replaces existing nodes.

The newly added mobile data support feature is configured to enable LTE modem setup and status monitoring, and the WLAN client and Ethernet interface have been enhanced with the ability to manually configure DNS servers even when automatic DHCP configuration mode is enabled.

In addition, the ability for the netIOT edge gateway to act as a DHCP server for Ethernet interfaces, excluding fieldbus interfaces, in a subnet, and predefined for each interfaceThe default firewall NAT (Network Address Translation) feature, which allows the use of configured firewall profiles, is supported.

Release 1.2 includes the first integrated netIOT diagnostic application, as well as Static Routing, which allows defining IP paths between connected networks.

With the release of Release 1.2, field testing for the netIOT diagnostic application has concluded, and the application version has been upgraded to 1.0. A new license is required to use the new edge analytics features of the on-premises gateway, and this is provided free of charge.

To activate an already installed database, this free license must be uploaded to the gateway. The initial LTE version of the netIOT on-premises edge gateway is available only in the European market.
