Ethernet PHY products that can be widely applied to industrial, automotive, and general-purpose applications have been released.

Texas Instruments (TI) announced on the 23rd that it is releasing two types of Ethernet physical layer (PHY) transceiver products.

The DP83825I low-power 10/100Mbps Ethernet PHY offers a 150m cable reach, while the DP83869HM Gigabit Ethernet PHY supports copper and fiber media and is capable of operating at high temperatures up to 125°C, providing speed and reliability in harsh environments.

Featuring a 3×3mm QFN 24-pin package and a 150m cable distance, it allows for miniaturization of system designs while increasing the physical distance of the network. The long cable distance allows for the elimination of Ethernet repeaters, further reducing costs.

It consumes less than 125mW of power, which also reduces heat generation and power consumption. It also provides power-saving features such as Energy Efficient Ethernet, wake-on-LAN (WOL), and media access control blocking.

The DP83825I is currently available for pre-sample through the TI store, priced at $0.71 per unit in 1,000-unit quantities.

The DP83869HM supports a temperature range of -40 to 125°C for gigabit fiber operation. It also has high ESD immunity, exceeding the 8kV IEC 61000-4-2 standard requirements. It can improve the reliability of Ethernet systems in industrial environments that operate at high temperatures and are susceptible to static electricity.

It supports conversion between copper and fiber Ethernet standards, including 1000Base-FX and 100Base-X Ethernet protocols. It can further extend network distances and supports TSN (Time Sensitive Networking), which meets 1000Base-TX and 100Base-TX standards with a low latency of less than 390ns.

The DP83869HM is available now in production quantities through the TI store and authorized distributors in a 48-pin, 7×7 mm VQFN package. Pricing starts at $7.13 in 1,000-unit quantities.
