u-blox Launches BMD-360 Bluetooth 5.1 Module

On the 4th, u-blox announced new Bluetooth modules BMD-341, BMD-345, and BMD-360.

Compliant with the Bluetooth 5.1 specification, the BMD-360 module supports Bluetooth pathfinding. It is optimized for long-range beacon applications, asset identification tags used in smart buildings and manufacturing systems, IoT infrastructure, logistics, and a variety of other high-precision indoor location-based services.
The BMD-360 consists of Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52811 SoC, which is based on a 64MHz 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 processor, and a built-in antenna.
The BMD-341 and BMD-345 modules, which comply with the Bluetooth 5.0 specification, are based on Nordic's nRF52840 SoC. They feature a U.FL connector, making them suitable for applications requiring an external antenna. It is also suitable for application to medical and industrial devices and other products constructed within metal casings.
The BMD-345 enhances long-range performance with a built-in power amplifier and low-noise amplifier. It is ideal for applications requiring best-in-class link budget characteristics to extend coverage and improve signal quality. It is also suitable for applications such as agriculture, asset tracking systems, and Bluetooth-based mesh network repeaters.
The BMD-341 and BMD-345 are pin- and footprint-compatible with all BMD-34x products, enabling a variety of design upgrades and designs that accommodate various antenna types and ranges. The BMD-360 is compatible with the BMD-330, BMD-300, and BMD-301 modules.
“We are excited about the launch of this solution, which offers extended coverage and new high-precision indoor positioning capabilities, and it shows the continued growth of Bluetooth technology as a specific area of short-range communication technology,” said Len Albertsson, Senior Product Manager, Short Range Radio, Product Center at u-blox.
Samples of the BMD-341 and BMD-360 were unveiled at the end of October, and samples of the BMD-345 are expected later this year.
Meanwhile, these new products are an expansion of the BMD product line from the Bluetooth module business division of Rigado, which was acquired last July.

Nordic Launches 'nRF52833' SoC Supporting Multiprotocol
Nordic Semiconductor has announced the nRF52833 multiprotocol SoC, the fifth product in the nRF52 series. The nRF52833 supports Bluetooth LE, Thread, Zigbee, and proprietary 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. It is based on a 64MHz 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 processor with FPU and has obtained operational certification across a temperature range of -40 to 105°C. With 512KB of flash memory and 128KB of RAM, it supports multiprotocol functionality. It can simultaneously execute Bluetooth LE and mesh/Thread/Zigbee, enabling interaction between smartphones and lighting mesh networks, as well as provisioning and commissioning. It is suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial wireless applications including professional lighting and asset tracking, smart home products, advanced wearables, and gaming solutions.

u-blox unveils M9 platform providing meter-level location information
u-blox has unveiled the M9 global positioning tracking technology platform capable of providing meter-level positioning accuracy. The UBX-M9140 GNSS chip equipped with the M9 technology platform and the NEO-M9N, the first module based on the M9 technology platform, are capable of simultaneously receiving GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo signals.
