New Jetson Product Line Announced: Xavier NX
Maximum 21 TOPS computing performance at 15W operation
Applying CUDA-X AI software architecture


It is expected that AI inference will be possible autonomously at the edge without the cloud.

On the 7th, NVIDIA announced the Jetson Xavier NX, an ultra-compact AI supercomputer for edge robots and embedded computing devices.

The Jetson Xavier NX provides 14 TOPS at 10W operation and 21 TOPS at 15W operation in a small 70x45mm form factor.

It features NVIDIA Volta as the GPU, which includes 384 NVIDIA CUDA cores, 48 Tensor cores, and 2 NVDLA cores, and uses a 6-core Carmel Arm 64-bit CPU with 6MB L2 and 4MB L3 cache memory.

It is equipped with 8GB 128-bit LPDDR4x memory, capable of processing 51.2GB of data per second. It also provides a variety of IOs ranging from high-speed CSI and PCIe to low-speed _I2C and GPIO.

It uses the same CUDA-X AI software architecture as other Jetson products and supports the NVIDIA JetPack SDK, an AI software stack.

NVIDIA recently met all five benchmark test criteria of MLPerf Inference 0.5, which measures AI inference performance in data centers and at the edge. The Jetson Xavier NX module is a low-power version of the Xavier SoC used in this benchmark.

The Jetson Xavier NX is pin-compatible with the Jetson Nano, sharing the same hardware design. The Jetson Nano's carrier board and system can also be upgraded to the Jetson Xavier NX. It also supports all major AI frameworks, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, MxNet, and Caffe.

Deepu Talla, Vice President and General Manager of NVIDIA’s Edge Computing business, stated, “Robots and embedded devices have faced many limitations in adding AI capabilities because they are mostly based on small form factors and low power consumption,” adding, “The Jetson Xavier NX can dramatically increase AI performance without increasing the size or power consumption of the device.”

The Jetson Xavier NX will be sold through NVIDIA's distribution channels for $399 starting next March. Developers can start developing applications using the Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit, which includes software patches modeled after the Jetson Xavier NX.
