Demand for open networking solutions is increasing
Dell Exclusively Supplies Big Switch SDN Solution in Korea


Open Networking is an open architecture technology that provides a network OS meeting customers' business requirements, and is based on high-performance Ethernet switches that support the Open Network Installation Environment (ONIE).

On the 7th, Dell Technologies entered into an OEM partnership with SDN company Big Switch Networks and decided to exclusively supply Big Switch solutions to the Korean market.

To implement Software Defined Networks (SDN), Dell Technologies supplies various networking solutions and proposes open networking strategies to enterprises ranging from the edge to the core and the cloud.

Dell Technologies supplies its own operating systems, such as 'Dell EMC OS 9' and 'OS 10', as well as software from Big Switch and various networking operating systems from global vendors, including 'Cumulus' and 'Pica 8'.C. All of Dell Technologies' data center switches with capacities ranging from a minimum of 1 Gigabit to 400 Gigabit support ONIE and support all of the aforementioned networking OSs.

The flagship solutions of Big Switch, with whom we have formed an OEM partnership, include 'BCF (Big Cloud Fabric),' which configures network environments using SDN; 'BMF (Big Monitoring Fabric),' which monitors software-based network traffic; and 'Multi-Cloud Director,' which supports operations and integrated monitoring for multi-cloud environments.

BCF is an underlay SDN solution that enables the implementation of a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) through automated integration with VMware, and by utilizing Multi-Cloud Director, it allows for the integrated management of on-premises networks and public clouds such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.

Through the recently signed OEM partnership, Dell Technologies is exclusively supplying its Big Switch solution in Korea, either integrated into Dell EMC appliances or as software, and providing Level 1 to 2 technical support. A Dell Technologies official stated that the company has secured various domestic cases, including large retailers, government ministries, entertainment companies, public enterprises, and local governments.

Dell Technologies Korea opened the 'Dell EMC SDN/SDDC Demo Center,' a one-stop center for companies looking to adopt SDN and SDDC, earlier this year and is supporting testing and POCs for customers and partners. In addition, we are accelerating the expansion of partners equipped with solutions and technical capabilities specialized in SDDC implementation, as well as the strengthening of existing partners' capabilities.
