Targeting consumers with diverse lifestyles through the development of new home appliances


As residential environments and lifestyles become more diverse, the types of home appliances are also diversifying.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 3rd that it will unveil a large number of new concept home appliances at CES 2020, a consumer electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 7th to the 10th (local time).

At CES 2020, they introduced cube-shaped small refrigerators such as the 'Wine Cube', 'Beer Cube', and 'Beauty Cube', as well as a 'Shoe Care Device' that applies the principles of a clothing sanitizer.

Samsung Electronics plans to target consumers with diverse lifestyles by creating product categories not seen in existing products.

Cube refrigerators are available in three types, including Wine Cube, Beer Cube, and Beauty Cube, depending on the contents being stored. It is designed to store wine, beer, and cosmetics at their respective optimal temperatures.

It can be installed individually or stacked vertically, making it easy to utilize space.

A shoe care device is a product that allows you to easily keep your shoes clean at home. Simply placing your shoes inside removes odors and moisture, keeping them in optimal condition.

Cube refrigerators and shoe care devices are scheduled to be released in Korea in the first half of 2020.

Lee Ki-soo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Home Appliances Business Division, stated, “We are developing various innovative products based on ‘Project PRISM,’” adding, “We will continue to introduce home appliances that reflect the changing tastes and demands of consumers.”

Samsung Electronics announced its Project Prism strategy last June. The first result of this strategy, the 'Bespoke' refrigerator, accounted for half of Samsung Electronics' domestic refrigerator sales within three months of its launch.
