Power Integrations Acquires 'AEC Q 100 Automotive Certification' for SCALE iDriver Gate Driver

Power Integrations has released the automotive-certified SID1181KQ SCALE iDriver gate driver for 750V rated IGBTs.

The new small yet robust driver IC uses Power Integrations' high-speed FluxLink communication technology to ensure system safety even in the event of a failure. FluxLink technology significantly improves the reliability and isolation performance of the new AEC Q100 certified gate driver, replacing optocoupler and capacitive, silicon-based inductive coupling solutions.
The SCALE iDriver device also includes protection features such as desaturation monitoring, primary and secondary undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and ASSD (Advanced Soft Shut Down) which protects the switch when the circuit is turned off.
In addition, tantalum and electrolytic capacitors were eliminated by minimizing the number of required external components, and the isolated power supply was simplified. Design simplicity was enhanced by requiring only one secondary winding of the transformer and allowing the use of a simple 2-layer PCB.
Power Integrations plans to release the 1200V SID1182KQ driver IC after expanding its range of automotive-certified driver ICs.

Silicon Labs Launches AEC-Q100 Compliant Timing Solutions
As automotive systems become increasingly complex, clocking requirements in automotive applications are also becoming more demanding. In response, Silicon Labs has launched a timing solution portfolio for automotive applications. The new portfolio, which complies with AEC-Q100, consists of the 'Si5332 arbitrary frequency programmable clock generator', 'Si5225x PCIe Gen 1/2/3/4/5 clock', 'Si5325x PCIe buffer', and 'Si5335x clock buffer'. These products can be utilized in various automotive applications including radar, LiDAR, camera, ECU, ADAS, and IVI.
