MWC proceeds as planned in Barcelona from the 24th to the 27th
LG Electronics is not participating, while Samsung Electronics is proceeding with the Unpacked event without changes.
The three major domestic telecommunications companies and Kia Motors minimize booth and staff size

The Global Mobile Association (GSMA), which hosts the world's largest mobile device exhibition, MWC (Mobile World Congress), stated that there are no issues with holding MWC 2020 despite the recent worsening spread of the novel coronavirus.
On February 5, GSMA stated, “It has been confirmed that the impact of the coronavirus on the event remains minimal so far,” adding, “MWC 2020 (MWC Barcelona) will proceed as scheduled from the 24th to the 27th at all exhibition venues, including Fira Gran Via, Fira Montjuic, and La Farga L'Hospitalet, and there are no changes to the event schedules for YoMo, 4YFN (Four Years From Now), etc.”

While proceeding with the event as scheduled, GSMA added, “We are potentially monitoring the impact of the coronavirus on the MWC Barcelona event and the Mobile 360 Series conferences held in various regions.”

A GSMA official said“We look forward to many people participating in the MWC 2020 event,” they said. “This event will provide much inspiration for creating a connected world, a better world, and engagement for connection.”

Meanwhile, on the same day, LG Electronics became the first Korean company to announce its decision not to participate in MWC 2020, whereas Samsung Electronics is expected to participate in the event as scheduled. In addition, Samsung Electronics plans to proceed with the Unpacked 2020 event, to be held in San Francisco, USA on the 11th, without any changes, and announce new products such as the Galaxy S20 (or Galaxy 11) and Galaxy Fold (tentative name).

The three major domestic mobile carriers, SKT, KT, and LG Uplus, have stated that they will participate in MWC 2020 but will minimize the size of their exhibition booths and personnel.

Kia Motors also plans to participate in the event by organizing its exhibition operations staff to the minimum necessary size.
