Forrester Releases 19Q4 IIoT Platform Report
Siemens MindSphere Selected as Leader
Interaction is possible even without Siemens hardware.


Siemens Digital Industries Software announced on the 13th that its cloud-based open IoT OS, MindSphere, was named a leader in the "Forrester Wave: Industrial IoT Platforms Q4 2019" report published by market research firm Forrester Research.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is considered a technology with the potential to significantly boost productivity and growth rates worldwide. Advisory firm Accenture predicted that IIoT will be involved in approximately two-thirds of global production and will generate an economic impact of about $14.2 trillion globally by 2030.

As companies around the world continue to develop IIoT strategies and adopt related solutions, the number of companies collaborating with Siemens is also increasing. These companies are adopting Siemens' cloud-based open IoT operating system, MindSphere, as the foundation for their IIoT programs.

Recently, Siemens was selected as a recipient of market research firm Forrester’s ‘Forrester Wave: Industrial IoT Platform Evaluation Q4 2019,’ and in this evaluation, Siemens MindSphere was named a leader in industrial IoT software platforms.

Over the past year, the MindSphere Partner Program expanded significantly with partners such as SAS, AWS, MS, Alibaba, and Arrow, and a number of major new clients were secured. In addition, Siemens announced the expansion of its Mendix platform to include cloud and app services for digital engineering and IoT powered by MindSphere, a core service of its Xcelerator portfolio.

A Forrester report explained that while MindSphere is a service that leverages Siemens' strengths in industrial equipment and control devices, it is not limited to interacting only with Siemens hardware. It further assessed that MindSphere plays a key role in transforming Siemens' digital twin vision into something practical and actionable.

MindSphere is a scalable industrial end-to-end solution that enables companies to understand their data by rapidly and securely connecting products, plants, systems, and machinery to the digital world. Furthermore, through industrial applications equipped with advanced analytics capabilities, it allows for the transformation of vast amounts of data from all machines and systems within an enterprise into productive business outcomes.
