XP Power today announced two new PCB-mount single-output AC-DC power supplies for cost-sensitive IoT applications.

Launched to complement the previous 3W, 5W and 10W models, the VCE20 and VCE40 series offer 20 and 40W power respectively and are available in encapsulated versions as well as low-cost open-frame versions suitable for PCB mounting.

The VCE20 measures 63.5×30.5×21.8mm, while the VCE40 measures 85.0×35.1×27.7mm, and its compact size and inclusion of PCB pins allow for easy design integration, allowing the mains supply to be safely connected directly to the PCB. The compact design of both products features an integrated EMC filter, hold-up capacitor, and fuse, saving space by eliminating the need for external components.

Both series offer an extended universal input range from 85 VAC to 305 VAC, accommodating worldwide applications, including those requiring high-voltage operation. A single output rail is available in the range of 3.3 to 48 V (3.3, 5.0, 9.0, 12.0, 15.0, 24.0, 48.0).

Pre-approved to global safety standards for ITE and household applications, including IEC60950-1, IEC/UL/EN62368-1, and IEC60335-1, the VCE20 and VCE40 series simplify the certification process for end equipment.

Input/output isolation of 3kVAC and a Class II rating ensure safe operation in a growing number of applications that do not include ground connections. With a standby power rating of 300mW, it is suitable for appliances and IoT applications that require extended standby periods.

Offering approximately 85% efficiency, the VCE20 and VCE40 operate with minimal temperature rise, eliminating the need for a heatsink. This reduces installation space, reduces final product weight, and reduces bill of materials (BOM) costs.

The VCE series provides PCB-mount, single-component, AC-DC power supply solutions for IoT applications including home automation, heating and lighting controls, smart metering, set-top boxes, and multi-industry technology that require compact, low-cost AC-DC power supplies.
