Samsung Electronics has signed a contract to supply 5G and 4G mobile communication equipment with US Cellular, a US mobile carrier.

US Cellular is the fifth-largest mobile carrier in the U.S. with 5 million subscribers, and this is the first time it has received mobile communication equipment from Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics plans to supply various 5G solutions based on 3GPP international standards, such as 5G integrated base stations (Access Units).

The 5G integrated base station is a product that integrates wireless communication and digital communication parts, and by minimizing size and weight, it can be installed on streetlights, building walls, etc., and can also reduce the cost of laying optical cables.

Samsung Electronics incorporates a self-developed 5G modem chip for base stations to reduce power consumption while supporting communication speeds of up to 10Gbps.

Meanwhile, with this contract, Samsung Electronics has signed 5G and 4G supply contracts with four telecommunications carriers that account for about 80% of all mobile subscribers in the United States.
