Samsung Electronics begins mass production of industry-first 16GB mobile DRAM.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 25th that it has begun mass production of 16GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM. This comes five months after the launch of 12GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM in July of last year.
This 16GB mobile DRAM package is equipped with eight 2nd generation 10nm-class (1y) 12Gb (=1.5GB) chips and four 8Gb (=1GB) chips.
The 16GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM is about 1.3 times (5,500Mb/s) faster than LPDDR4X (4,266Mb/s) and can process 44GB of data in just one second.
Compared to the existing 8GB LPDDR4X package, the capacity has been doubled while power consumption has been reduced by more than 20%.
Samsung Electronics is currently mass-producing LPDDR5 mobile DRAM at its latest line in Pyeongtaek Campus, and in the second half of this year, it plans to begin mass production of 16Gb LPDDR5, which is 1.5 times faster than existing products, using the third-generation 10nm-class (1z) process in line with the development of a 6400Mbps operating AP.
