LG Electronics and Woowa Brothers Accelerate Development of Delivery and Serving Robots

LG Electronics is strengthening its delivery and serving robot business by joining hands with Woowa Brothers, which operates the food delivery app Baedal Minjok.

LG Electronics and Woowa Brothers signed a business agreement on the 27th for business cooperation related to delivery and serving robots, joining forces to realize a future where people and robots coexist.
Under the agreement, the two companies will develop an integrated robot solution that will assist in restaurant operation and management, including serving robots, guide robots, and table robots.
In addition, LG Electronics will jointly research various robots, including delivery robots, based on its robot development capabilities accumulated in fields such as artificial intelligence and indoor autonomous driving, and Woowa Brothers' know-how gained through operating service platforms such as Baedal Minjok.
Previously, the two companies formed a consortium and applied for the 2020 service robot demonstration project promoted by the Korea Robot Industry Advancement Institute.

In addition, LG Electronics set up a robot exhibition zone, CLOi's Table, at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, USA in January and introduced the LG CLOi Dining Solution, a robot service for restaurant operation and management. The robot service can perform functions such as guidance, ordering, food preparation, and serving in restaurants.
Meanwhile, the signing ceremony was attended by executives including Noh Jin-seo, head of LG Electronics' Robot Business Center, and Yoon Hyun-jun, vice president and head of the new business division at Woowa Brothers.

Self-driving robots deliver food from restaurants
LG Electronics and CJ Foodville have launched a service in which robots independently deliver food to customers and retrieve empty dishes. The two companies applied Cloi Servebot, which they showcased at CES 2020, to actual restaurants on January 31st.
