Power Integrations today announced the 1SP0351 SCALE-2™ single-channel +15/-10V plug-and-play gate driver for 4500V press-pack IGBT modules.

The new gate drivers are based on the Power Integrations SCALE-2 chipset and are optimized for applications such as HVDC VSC, STATCOM/FACTS, and medium-voltage drives.

The 1SP0351 driver features dynamic advanced active clamping (DAAC), short-circuit protection, a built-in DC-DC converter, regulated turn-on gate drive voltage, DC-DC overload monitoring, and supply voltage monitoring. It also includes active Miller clamping circuitry. The SCALE-2 ASIC chipset reduces component count by up to 85% compared to existing solutions, thereby increasing reliability.

Designed for ease of use, the plug-and-play feature of the 1SP0351 driver makes commissioning easy and operation possible immediately after installation. Additionally, a simple 2-pin power plug is included to simplify operation, and conformal coating enhances the product's robustness and reliability.

The 1SP0351 SCALE-2 gate driver meets the creepage and clearance specifications per IEC 61800-5-1. It is available now and is priced at $214.20 in quantities of 1,000.
