Preemptive response to disasters and catastrophes through the spread of intelligent CCTV

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency are holding a contest for the 'Intelligent CCTV Pilot Project' to expand intelligent CCTV in the disaster and accident field using intelligent technology until Thursday, March 26.
The pilot project will be carried out in the form of a consortium comprised of intelligent CCTV companies and demanders, and selected companies will be supported with up to 230 million won.
This pilot project, which is being promoted through open and designated public offerings, will ▲support the spread of intelligent technologies in the disaster and accident field utilizing CCTV in the case of the open public offering, and ▲establish a monitoring system for school safety (fire surveillance, school violence, etc.) through collaboration with the Ministry of Education in the case of the designated public offering.
This pilot project, which has been implemented since 2018, has selected companies with excellent technology and demanders (public institutions and local governments) in a consortium format and supported the introduction and expansion of intelligent CCTV for six social and safety projects, including traffic and safety, crime and public order prevention.
An information session is scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 12th at the Korea Internet & Security Agency Seoul Office in Garak-dong, Seoul, but the schedule may change or be replaced with an online information session due to COVID-19. Huh Sung-wook, director of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Information Protection Network Policy Bureau, said, “By utilizing intelligent CCTV in the disaster management field, we will be able to resolve the limitations of control personnel and contribute to establishing a smooth initial response system,” and “We will work to expand intelligent CCTV to enable proactive disaster response and prevent safety accidents for the public.”
