Even in Taiwan, which is considered to be the most successful in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the world, the schedule for a major ICT expo has been postponed.
TEATRA announced on the 25th that it is postponing Computex 2020 from June to September.
Walter Yea, President and CEO of TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Association), the organizer of COMPUTEX, and Enoch Du, Secretary General of TCA (Taiwan Computer Association), announced that COMPUTEX, which was scheduled to be held for four days from June 2 to 6, has been postponed to September for the health and safety of exhibitors and visitors.
Computex will be held from September 28 to 30 at Hall 2 of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX 2), taking into consideration the health and safety of all participants while providing exhibition opportunities to exhibitors and visitors from around the world. There are also plans to set up an InnoVEX exhibition hall for 5G, smart solutions, games, and startups.
According to McKinsey's latest infectious disease report, COVID-19 is expected to be brought under control in East Asia, including China, starting early in the second quarter, while the situation in Europe and the United States is not expected to slow down until June. TEATRA plans to invite global visitors to Computex, which will be held in September, through 63 overseas offices.
TAITRA plans to organize an online exhibition for exhibitors on Taiwantrade from June 2 to 6 and invite global buyers to online purchasing meetings. In addition, it plans to invite companies launching new products to the exhibition and invite global ICT companies to share 5G, AIoT, and other applications through webinars.
