Newly Hired PMs Classified into 3 Types and 7 Fields
Strengthening SME R&D Support Strategies and Planning New Businesses
KISTEP operates PM separately as an organization directly under the President.


The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Technology Information (KITI) announced on the 10th that they are recruiting project managers (PMs) for each sector to strengthen the strategic nature of SME R&D projects.

This is the first introduction of PMs specialized in the R&D sector for SMEs, and the selected PMs will be responsible for establishing customized support strategies for each company's growth stage and reinforcing technology-based business management functions.

The PMs we plan to hire this time are broadly classified into 7 fields across 3 types: corporate growth, win-win cooperation, and technology planning.

First, the corporate growth type plays a role in supporting the scale-up of SMEs invested in for startup nurturing, and planning investment linkage and global expansion programs.

In addition, the win-win cooperation type plays a role in planning win-win cooperation programs and technology cooperation platforms for collaboration between companies and between industry, academia, and research institutes.

Finally, the technology planning type is responsible for planning R&D projects for new industries and high value-added fields suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises in a total of five technology sectors, including innovative services, future vehicles, bio-health, electronic components and equipment, and chemical and electronic materials.

Unlike the private expert system operated by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, which has been limited to the technology sector, the SME R&D PMs being recruited this time are characterized by performing a role from the perspective of a corporate ecosystem that grows from startups to small and medium-sized enterprises and then to mid-sized enterprises, encompassing both companies and technology.

The Institute announced that it plans to operate the newly selected PMs as a separate organization directly under the President to support organic and immediate policy responses and project planning among the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Institute, and the PMs.

Applications will be accepted from the 17th to the 24th of this month, and final selections will be made by comprehensively verifying job performance plans, organizational adaptability, communication skills, and expertise through document screening and interviews.
