Smart factory distribution to domestic mid-sized and small businesses

SK Telecom announced on the 24th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Smart Factory Data Association, a corporate body under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, for the 'Manufacturing Data Analysis-Based Smart Factory Construction Support Project' for domestic mid-sized and small-sized enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses.

Through this project, the two organizations plan to reduce the cost burden required for building and upgrading smart factories for domestic mid-sized and small-sized manufacturing companies, thereby accelerating the spread of innovation.

Participating companies will receive 50% (up to 100 million won) in support for the cost of building a new smart factory system, and Metatron Grandview, a big data analysis solution tailored to manufacturing companies, will be provided free of charge for one year.

Metatron Grandview collects and analyzes various data, such as rotation speed, vibration, and current, through sensors attached to major equipment within the factory, predicting the current condition of the equipment and the time when maintenance is needed in real time, helping to operate the equipment efficiently.

An SK Telecom official said, The company stated that the introduction of Metatron GrandView will result in an average 15% cost savings through improved manufacturing productivity through optimized equipment maintenance. Furthermore, the company added that AI-based predictive maintenance capabilities will extend the lifespan of key equipment and components by more than 20%.

The Smart Factory Data Association is recruiting mid-sized and small manufacturing companies to participate in the project. Selected companies will be provided with various support options, including consulting, along with funding for construction and operation.
