S3FV9RR Security Chip to be Launched in Q3 This Year
Achieved the highest mobile device rating, EAL 6+
Provides features such as secure boot and device activation.


Samsung Electronics unveiled the 'S3FV9RR' security chip for smart devices on the 26th.

This product, equipped with security software developed in-house by Samsung Electronics, has obtained an EAL (Evaluation Assurance Level) 6+ rating under the Common Criteria (CC).

By incorporating S3FV9RR into smart devices, manufacturers can immediately apply security features without the need to develop separate software, thereby shortening development time.

CC is a common evaluation standard established to mutually recognize information security evaluation criteria that differ by country. It is divided into grades from EAL 0 to EAL 7, and the closer to 7, the stronger the security. A Samsung Electronics official explained that EAL 6+ is the highest rating achieved to date for security chips for mobile devices.

Going beyond simple hacking prevention, this product supports features such as Hardware Secure Boot, which verifies the integrity of software installed on smart devices, and Device Authentication.

A Samsung Electronics official stated, “Smart devices equipped with S3FV9RR automatically block unauthorized software intrusions,” adding, “They also satisfy the highest level of hardware security performance required by open mobile operating systems such as Android.”

In addition, since it can be used in processors of various smart devices, it can be utilized in various applications, such as IoT devices, in addition to mobile devices.

This product is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of this year.
