LG Electronics Launches Two 65-inch NanoCell 8K Models in Korea
Adjusting light wavelengths with 1-nanometer particles
Additional 8K NanoCell TV models to be unveiled in early June


On the 26th, LG Electronics launched a new NanoCell TV in Korea featuring a 65-inch screen with 8K resolution (7680×4320). The company also plans to release another 8K NanoCell TV in early June.

The LG NanoCell 8K AI ThinQ product lineup has expanded to a total of four models, including the two 75-inch models (75Nano99 and 75Nano97) released in March. 86-, 75-, 65-, and 55-inch models are currently available in 4K resolution.

Nanocell is a technology that uses particles approximately 1 nanometer (nm) in size to precisely adjust light wavelengths, allowing for more detailed and accurate color expression. LG Electronics has applied Nanocell technology to the panel stage closest to the viewer's eyes.

LCD TVs can display a red color that differs from the actual color because other color wavelengths, such as yellow and orange, are subtly mixed with the unique red wavelength. Nanocells absorb surrounding color wavelengths to produce a red color closest to the actual color.

An official from LG Electronics explained, “OLED and NanoCell TVs achieve real 8K that surpasses the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM) standards with horizontal and vertical Contrast Modulation (CM) of over 90%.”

The prices are 6 million won for the 65Nano99 model and 5.5 million won for the 65Nano97 model based on ex-factory prices.
