ST Strengthens ToF Sensor Capabilities with Launch of VL53L3CX

STMicroelectronics announced on the 28th that it has expanded its FlightSense™ ToF distance measuring sensor capabilities with the launch of the VL53L3CX.
The VL53L3CX enables real-time spot compensation using ST's patented histogram algorithm, offering high accuracy and allowing for distance measurement of multiple objects.
It is possible to measure object distances from 2.5 cm to 3 m, and unlike conventional infrared sensors, it is not affected by the color or reflectivity of the object.
The designer can introduce features into the product such as the occupancy detector ignoring unwanted backgrounds or foregrounds and detecting objects without error, or reporting the accurate distances of multiple objects within the sensor's field of view.

Sensor technology capable of detecting humidity within approximately 1cm has been developed.
ETRI has developed a high-sensitivity humidity sensor technology utilizing molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂). The humidity sensor developed by ETRI exhibits a sensitivity exceeding 66,000%, making it more than 660 times more sensitive than conventional sensors, and with a detection time of 0.5 seconds, it is up to 12 times faster than existing commercial sensors.
