U+ Supports 5G Networks, Precision Maps, and High-Precision Positioning Solutions

LG Uplus and Autonomous A2Z announced on the 14th that they will embark on a self-driving service demonstration project.

On the 12th, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a technology agreement of this nature at LG U+'s Yongsan headquarters, and agreed to establish detailed cooperation plans, including the formation and operation of a working-level consultative group.

Through this agreement, LG Uplus will support V2X (Vehicle to Everything) technologies, including a 5G communication network for autonomous driving services, dynamic maps that enhance safety and reliability, and high-precision positioning solutions (RTK and centimeter-level vehicle position measurements). Autonomous A2G will provide the autonomous vehicle platform.

Autonomous A2Z is a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions development, with a cumulative autonomous driving distance exceeding 20,000 km to date. We have secured self-driving vehicles including ultra-compact electric vehicles, regular passenger cars, and 15-passenger minibuses based on full-stack technologies including perception, judgment, and control, and are conducting verification tests in various environments such as daytime, nighttime, and in bad weather.

Kang Jong-oh, executive director of LG Uplus' mobility business division, said, "We plan to continue jointly verifying solutions that can supplement safety by applying LG Uplus' 5G-based V2X technology to the Autonomous A2Z autonomous driving technology platform."

Autonomous A2Z CEO Han Ji-hyung said, “First, we plan to develop advanced autonomous driving technology by utilizing big data exchanged between autonomous vehicles through the infrastructure built in Sejong City and LG U+’s 5G technology,” and “We will provide opportunities for citizens to directly experience various services related to this.”
