24G SAS doubles the interconnection bandwidth of 12G SAS


Microchip announced on the 18th that it has completed 24G SAS End-to-End storage interoperability testing with Kioxia America.

24G SAS infrastructure provides enhanced performance, security, and reliability to data center, cloud, hyperscale, and enterprise server and storage customers while maintaining existing SAS infrastructure.

This interoperability test demonstrated that Microchip's 24G SAS product family and Kioxia's 24G SAS SSD can be used together as part of a next-generation storage solution.

A Microchip official stated that they used the SmartROC 3200 PCIe® Gen 4 Triple Mode ROC (RAID On Chip) controller, SmartIOC 2200 I/O controller, and SXP 24G SAS expander as test products.

The 24G SAS (SAS-4/SPL-5) standard, developed to complement the latest PCIe 4th generation data center I/O specifications, doubles the storage interconnect bandwidth of previous SAS standards and eliminates CPU host bottlenecks.

Both new and existing storage infrastructures are efficientThe 24G SAS, which enables adversarial use, includes Forward Error Correction (FEC) to support a wide range of enterprise-grade server/storage use cases while minimizing system costs.
