Size reduced by 35% compared to products of the same capacitance


Murata Manufacturing announced on the 30th that it has developed a multilayer ceramic capacitor with a capacitance of 1.0μF.

The size is 0.4 × 0.2 mm, which is widely used in various mobile electronic devices including smartphones. The number of multilayer ceramic capacitors installed in a single flagship smartphone is approximately 900 to 1,100.

Murata Manufacturing explained, “By utilizing our proprietary ceramic element thin-layer technology and thin-film formation technology, we have reduced the size and volume by 35% and 50%, respectively, compared to existing products with the same capacitance, and the capacitance is about 2.1 times higher than existing products of the same size.”

The GRM022R60G105M with a rated voltage of 4Vdc has already started mass production, and the GRM022R60J105M with a rated voltage of 6.3Vdc is scheduled to enter mass production in 2021.
