Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP) today announced a major software update to its BlueSky™ Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Firewall product, providing a higher level of resiliency to address GPS vulnerabilities in systems that rely on GPS signal reception.

Microchip BlueSky GNSS Firewall Software 2.0 performs real-time analysis to detect jamming and spoofing to protect GPS signal reception and enhance response and recovery to avoid signal disruption.

Includes GNSS observables and advanced threshold settings such as satellite observations, carrier-to-noise ratio, position dispersion, phase time deviation, and radio frequency (RF) power levels to simplify system operation and deployment.

Microchip said, "At the GET-CI (GPS Testing for Critical Infrastructure) event hosted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a new solution to prevent signal interruption was demonstrated.He said, "We discovered the solution," and "we were able to proceed with this update as a result of conducting real-time tests last year."

BlueSky GNSS Firewall Software 2.0 is available as a subscription service and is installed on BlueSky GNSS Firewall devices. By connecting to Microchip's TimePictra management software, critical infrastructure managers can monitor and analyze GNSS signals at city, regional, national, and global scales.
