Announcing the wM-Bus Software Stack
STMicroelectronics announced on the 6th that Stackforce, an ST authorized partner, has released a wM-Bus software stack for developing smart metering systems.

The wM-Bus stack complies with the full scope of EN 13757-3/-7, covering the upper and lower layers (EN 13757-4) of the wM-Bus protocol stack, as well as wM-Bus modes S, T and C for the 868 MHz band used throughout Europe. Mode N for 169 MHz operation is also available as an option.
It meets several metering standards, including the most common Open Metering System (OMS) specifications, as well as more specialized standards such as the Dutch Smart Meter Requirements (DSMR) and the Italian Gas Committee (CIG IGC) specifications.
The STM32WL MCU is an ultra-low-power device for smart meters. The sub-1GHz radio integrated into the STM32WL features a wide linear frequency range and dual power outputs, meeting EN 300 220, FCC CFR 47 Part 15, ARIB T108, and other wireless equipment regulations, including China's regulatory requirements. Other key features include a built-in switched-mode power supply (SMPS) and hardware cryptographic accelerators.
The wM-Bus stack is available online and ready to use. The LoRaWAN-based wM-Bus stack will be available later this month. STM32WL devices, available with up to 256KByte Flash and in BGA73 packages, are in volume production now and are supported by ST's 10-year longevity warranty program.

"Wi-Fi will be as fast as 5G" Government allows limited use of 6GHz band
Next-generation unlicensed communication technologies such as Wi-Fi 6E and 5G NR-U are receiving attention as supporting technologies for 5G. To implement these, the 6 GHz band must be utilized. Accordingly, the Ministry of Science and ICT has finalized a plan to supply a 6 GHz band with a 1.2 GHz bandwidth as unlicensed spectrum.
