KT Completes Development and Verification of 5G Enterprise Network Slicing Technology

KT announced on the 14th that it has completed the development of 5G enterprise network slice technology and completed technology verification for launching it as a commercial service.

5G enterprise network slicing is a solution that divides a single physical 5G network into multiple independent virtual networks and provides them as needed. The key point is that 'Network Slicing', a key 5G technology, has been applied to the core network.

Enterprise customers using 5G enterprise network slices can separate their in-house network into multiple dedicated infrastructure or employee networks to receive networks optimized for their work and field characteristics.

For example, by separating the 5G network accessed by employees' smartphones from the 5G network used by wireless CCTV installed for factory monitoring, the network can be designed to enable wireless CCTV to transmit large amounts of high-definition video data stably without being affected by smartphone usage.

Additionally, the 5G network dedicated to employee smartphones provides service coverage that can be accessed anywhere in the country, and IoT terminals that manage product production infrastructure can be accessed only at the factory for corporate security purposes, allowing for segmented network coverage.

KT explained, “When 5G corporate network slices are applied, security will be further strengthened as connected terminals will each have to authenticate on an independent network,” and “Existing customers using KT’s corporate 5G service can use it immediately by simply subscribing without any additional settings.”
