ST Unveils Development Kit to Simplify IoT Node Development Process

On the 17th, STMicroelectronics released the 'STM32 Discovery Kit B-L4S5I-IOT01A', which simplifies the IoT node development process.

This kit supports quality-certified FreeRTOS™ ports, integrates seamlessly with the STM32Cube ecosystem, and connects directly to AWS (Amazon Web Services).
The STM32 Discovery Kit B-L4S5I-IOT01A consists of an STM32L4+ MCU board with a wide range of ST MEMS sensors, an STSAFE-A110 Secure Element, Bluetooth® 4.2, a Wi-Fi® module, and an NFC tag, along with an antenna embedded on the PCB for flexible low-power communication with a cloud server.
This kit comes with the STM32Cube Expansion Pack X-CUBE-AWS v2.0, and can be used as a reference design to simply and quickly complete a product for release.
The X-CUBE-AWS v2.0 pack is a FreeRTOS standard AWS within the STM32Cube environment. It supports the integration of connectivity frameworks. Users can utilize both FreeRTOS and STM32Cube without developing additional software.
It also supports AWS native services, including standard Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) operations, and interacts with the built-in STSAFE-A110 security element to assign security-critical tasks during booting, device authentication, and OTA firmware verification, and handles AWS IoT Core Multi-Account Registration.
The STM32L4+ board is designed to meet the performance requirements and energy constraints typically applied to IoT nodes. The Arm® Cortex®-M4-based STM32L4S5VIT6 MCU integrates 2MB of flash, 640KB of RAM, digital and analog peripherals, and a hardware cryptographic accelerator.
This board is composed of an HTS221 capacitive digital relative humidity and temperature sensor, an LIS3MDL high-performance 3-axis geomagnetic sensor, an LSM6DSL 3D accelerometer and 3D gyroscope, an LPS22HB absolute digital output barometer, a VL53L0X ToF (Time-of-Flight) and gesture detection sensor, and two digital omnidirectional microphones.
The B-L4S5I-IOT01A Discovery Kit can be purchased for $54 from st.com or a reseller. The STM32Cube Expansion Pack X-CUBE-AWS v2.0 can be downloaded for free.
