4Mbit 25CSM04 EEPROM, NOR Flash Replacement


Consumer, medical, industrial, and automotive devices use user-specific data sets to optimize user experience. These non-volatile data sets, which include calibration constants, background conditions, user preferences, and changing noise environments, are adjusted by the end system or user in increments of a few bytes at a time.

Serial EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is memory for these applications that offers non-volatility, byte-level control, ease of use, and low power consumption. On the 26th, Microchip released the new '25CSM04' EEPROM.

The 25CSM04 EEPROM, with a storage capacity of 4Mbit, can replace NOR flash. Compared to NOR flash, EEPROM has lower standby current (2µA vs. 15µA), shorter sector erase and rewrite times (5ms vs. 300ms), and more cycles (1M vs. 100K). Additionally, it offers higher single-byte, multi-byte, and full-page write capabilities.

Microchip's 4Mbit serial EEPROM device supports MPLAB® starter kits for serial memory products. The kit includes a serial memory interface board, a serial EEPROM starter pack, a USB cable, MPLAB X IDE, a Total Endurance™ software model, and a CD containing serial EEPROM interface tools.
