GitLab Acquires CNCF Kubernetes Service Provider Certification
Published2020.09.11 09:52Kubernetes is the container orchestration tool of choice for companies embarking on a cloud-native strategy.
According to VMware's report (The State of Kubernetes 2020), more than 50% of companies with over 1,000 employees are using Kubernetes in their production environments.
While the number of companies adopting Kubernetes is increasing and DevOps personnel are leveraging it to automate tasks, a skills gap surrounding container management and orchestration still exists.
GitLab announced on the 10th that it has obtained Kubernetes Certified Service Provider (KCSP) status from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).
The KCSP program, jointly operated by the Linux Foundation and the CNCF, provides the necessary support for enterprises to launch applications in production Kubernetes environments.
By acquiring KCSP certification, GitLab plans to provide consulting, training, support, workshops, and professional services to help companies apply a cloud-native approach according to their business goals.
According to the CNCF Survey 2019 report, the proportion of container usage in operating environments over the past 20It surged from 23% in 2016 to 84% in 2019.
In addition, cloud-native technology is emerging as mainstream, and it has been found that many CNCF projects are adopting GitLab.

Growing Korean public cloud market, 'will grow even bigger in 21'

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
