Machine vision is one of the most cost-effective solutions for automating existing logistics and manufacturing environments, as it requires only a smart camera.
On the 17th, ADLINK launched the 'NEON-1000-MDX' smart camera series that combines the Intel® Movidius™ Miryad™ X VPU and the ADLINK Edge™ Smart Pallet SW.
The NEON-1000-MDX smart camera enables machine vision experts and developers to quickly build, validate, and deploy machine learning models. Additionally, it provides IoT solution teams and system integrators with tools to connect, stream, and automate machine vision tasks.
Users can build optimized neural networks with OpenVINO without any separate coding or integration, using a variety of ready-to-use plugins tailored to their environment and system requirements, provided by the pre-installed EVA (Edge Vision Analytics) SDK.
The NEON-1000-MDX smart camera performs product classification and defect detection functions with the built-in smart pallet software, and enables machine learning and inference at the edge based on the performance of the Movidius Myriad X VPU. Therefore, classification and detection accuracy improves with use, and automated workflows can be created.

A research team led by Professor Park Yong-hwa from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST and SM Instruments have developed a cough recognition camera that identifies cough sounds in real-time and displays the location of the coughing person as an image. The cough recognition camera is expected to be utilized as medical equipment capable of detecting disease outbreaks in crowded public spaces or continuously monitoring patient conditions in hospitals.
